Wikipedia talk:Articles for deletion/Wehatetech

To those who continue to argue long after the discussion has been closed:

The first point that you need to get through your skulls is THIS IS NOT PERSONAL. assume good faith.

There are a great many podcasts out there. Far too many for any one podcaster to be considered notable unless they're someone like Adam Curry or Dawn and Drew, in other words a pioneer or someone who has made a significant splash on pop culture. It's the same with webcomics and web forums -- there's a great many garden-variety webcomics and forums, but there are very few Sexy Losers, User Friendlys, and Slashdots. It is true that Wikipedia is not paper. But check out WP:NOT as well -- it isn't a dumping ground for information or a promotional venue. If it gets to the point where Wehatetech becomes notable in the outside world -- if you guys get quoted significantly in magazines, for example, or if you create a notable meme -- then there will be room for an article for you. Or you could get notability the way you're going, by browbeating and vandalizing the wiki. That method will probably get you permabanned, and there's a large contingent of AfD voters who don't want vandals to get any recognition at all, which might put into jeopardy even bad publicity.

There is no need for this to turn into a vendetta. There's enough egotistical morons who want to see Wikipedia go down for not seeing things their way -- don't be among them. Haikupoet 03:36, 5 January 2006 (UTC)

FOOTNOTE

Wanted to be sure this was documented for historical amusement. After all the shelling and screaming....wehatetech.com was just nuked by its administrators and no longer exists...because they couldn't find $40/mo to keep their extremely "notable" service up and running:

"[http://www.wehatetech.com/ We are still rethinking how are are going to do this. Currently, in order to give you the website we had before we are looking at $40 or so a month through a VPS package (if not more). I for one (Josh) am not really willing to spend that kind of money on the website where there is no cost recoup in the immediate or far future. For now we will probably have a static website (a bit more than this of course) where you can go to get the podcasts. If people are interested in more, the only solution I have is for people to pay up or help us find another route. We will have another podcast out this weekend, we are just looking at some hosting options right now. Thanks. If you want check out the Lamenation Website. Thanks.]" 24.63.175.101 15:26, 4 October 2006 (UTC)

  • Meh. In the grand scheme of things it was nothing more than a rather large blip on the radar. I'm surprised anyone even bothered to add a postscript, honestly. Haikupoet 18:18, 4 October 2006 (UTC)
