Wikipedia talk:Articles for deletion/Llamacon (2nd nomination)

I wasn't aware of the DRV - I check it periodically of course, but as I wasn't mentioned by name it didn't click that I had closed that debate and it wasn't a DRV debate which "grabbed" me in any way. I'll just say why I closed it delete (it was one of my first closures, incidentally). The numbers were low, but with 4 delete and 1 keep I felt that - given I didn't expect it to be a controversial issue - they were enough to represent numerical consensus. I then considered the debate itself. I think conventions are per se not notable, especially first year conventions; they happen all around the world with great frequency and we can't document them all. I considered the new evidence, which was that it appeared in a community newspaper (a high circulation one, yes, but a community paper nonetheless). This I felt proved nothing; in my experience local paper coverage for any event involving more than 10 people (and often for less) is all but guaranteed if they're doing their job properly. The mention of some blue link names didn't sway me in the least; we're not a celeb tracker and we don't document everything done by blue linked people or every appearance they make. In summation then, I felt that the "deletes" had it in both numbers and strength of argument. All that said, I welcome this second AFD. --kingboyk 08:13, 21 March 2006 (UTC)
