Wikipedia talk:Articles for deletion/American solidarity

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

I haven't even finished the entry yet. It is a new group, but I'd like to know how it can be nominated for deletion before I've even finished it.

It won't be deleted for at least five days even if it doesn't get a single "keep" vote, so if you think you can prove that the group deserves an article here, you still have time. Read over the various messages to see what people are objecting to, and try to counter their objections. Just make sure you post a big message at the top of the list of votes to say that you've changed something, so people will know to have another look.
Bear in mind that articles on new groups are unlikely to be kept however good they are, and however worthy the group is. A lot of people here, and particularly those who vote to delete articles, believe that nothing should have an article that doesn't meet some more-or-less well defined "notability" criteria. In the case of a political pressure group, for example, most people will say that a group that's been mentioned in the media is "notable", while a group that nobody's heard of at all isn't.
Please don't be discouraged if your article gets deleted. It's not a comment on you, or on the group, or on their politics - it's all about what Wikipedians believe has had enough impact to belong in an encyclopedia. If you keep on fighting to make America the America you want to live in, you might just end up changing the world - and then all the people who are saying "delete" now will be queueing up to write the article for you.
