May be it should be modified? I am not a specialist, but look here - [1] There is a big description of various dialects, with references.

- Delete: the topic belongs under American_English#Regional_differences, which is thin on western dialects but already has a much more competent discussion. NathanV 14:55, 3 Mar 2005 (UTC)
