Information on Wikipedia must be reliable and verifiable. Facts, viewpoints, theories, and arguments may only be included in articles if they have already been published by reliable and reputable sources. Articles must rely on third-party sources with a reputation for fact-checking and accuracy. For academic subjects, the sources should preferably be peer-reviewed. Sources should also be appropriate to the claims made; outlandish claims beg strong sources.

Citing sources is one of the core elements of Wikipedia and is official policy for every article on Wikipedia. Any unsourced material may be challenged and removed.

Good sources include:

  • Books written by third-parties
  • Reputable websites that are independent of the subject
  • Reputable magazines that are independent of the subject
  • Reputable academic journals

Bad sources include:

  • Blogs
  • MySpace pages
  • "Personal knowledge"
  • Any source that can not be independently verified by another editor.

If your article does not cite good sources, it can not be accepted.
