Vlisco was founded on 15 August 1846 in Helmond. Over the years the textile factory has been extended on a regular basis. The products were sold on the domestic market and abroad. In 1852 the company started exporting batik prints to the former Dutch East Indies. Vlisco started to export to Africa in 1909. [edit] Ken Herndon

Ken Herndon, 49, is the Jefferson County (KY) Judge Executive, a Democrat, and the highest constitutional officer in Kentucky's most populous county, home to Louisville. He was first elected in 2002 and reelected in 2006. He succeeded Rebecca Jackson, a Republican, who went on to run (unsuccessfully) for governor of Kentucky in 2003. Herndon is a native of Paducah (McCracken County), Kentucky. He is a graduate of Lone Oak High School and Murray State University. In 1991, he helped organize the Fairness Campaign in Louisville, which supported passage of several civil rights initiatives in Louisville and Jefferson County. Those efforts were successful, as both former governments (prior to Merger) and the current government, the Louisville-Jefferson County Metro, have passed such laws. Herndon has also been an unsuccessful candidate for 34th District State Representative, 5th Ward Alderman, and 35th District State Senator. He is also involved in other human and civil rights issues, the Old Louisville Neighborhood Council, and works as Executive Director of the Louisville Downtown Management District. His current term expires on December 31, 2010.

[edit] Design for Manufacturability (PCB)

Design for manufacturability (DFM for short. Often referred to as "design for manufacturing") is a design methodology intended to ease the manufacturing process of a given product. In the PCB design process DFM leads to a set design guidelines that attempt to ensure manufacturability. By doing so, probable production problems may be addressed during the design stage.

Ideally, DFM guidelines take into account the processes and capabilities of the manufacturing industry. Therefore, DFM is constantly evolving.

As manufacturing companies evolve and automatize more and more stages of the processes, these processes tend to become cheaper. DFM is usually used to reduce these costs. For example, if a process may be done automatically by machines (ie: SMT component placement and soldering), such process is likely to be cheaper than doing so by hand.

[edit] Apothecary Hymns

Founded by New York City native Alex Stimmel in 2004, Apothecary Hymns began life as a one-man band. Stimmel played all the instruments on his debut single, a limited-edition picture sleeve entitled "Half of What is Seen." Released on Jugendstil Records, Stimmel began distributing the 7" single to labels, and found interest from the Chicago-based independent Locust Music (Josephine Foster, Sir Richard Bishop, Espers, &c). The debut Apothecary Hymns album, Trowel & Era was released in 2005 as Locust 69. Trowel & Era, too, was recorded and produced by Stimmel, who again handled all the playing and singing. All songs were written by Stimmel, except for "All True Love Is Happiness" (co-written with Nick Ackerman) and "The Human Abstract", which is a setting of the William Blake poem.

The music of Apothecary Hymns is best categorized as psychedelic. The lyrics are poetic and thoughtful, and often relate tales rather than relying on first-person narratives. There are connections both to acid-folk and harder-edged psychedelia, with more overt fuzz-toned guitars and rock execution.

Live, Apothecary Hymns varies between solo performances by Stimmel (often on electric guitar) and full-band shows, usually as a rock quartet (piano, guitar, bass, & drums). Members currently include Rob Fellman (bass), Dan Lubell (Keyboards) and Mark Mickelthwaite (drums).

A second album is being recorded in 2007 for release on Locust later in the year.
