Arts Council of Ireland

The Arts Council of Ireland (Chomhairle Ealaíon na hÉireann in Irish) is a government funded body which promotes art in the Republic of Ireland. It was founded in 1951, and, as of 2006, is headed by Olive Braiden.[1] It provides grants to artists, as well as funding arts-related events directly. It also funds the artists' organization Aosdána.
The council had a budget of €80 million for 2007.[1]
