Arthurian Total War
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Arthurian Total War (abbreviated as "ATW" is a mod to the expansion pack of Rome Total War: Barbarian Invasions. The mod takes place in the so called "Dark Ages", the period after the Romans had left Great Britain, during the invasions of the German peoples such as the Saxons and Angles.
[edit] Gameplay
Arthurian Total War works much the same as the original Rome Total War, being a mix between a real time strategy and turn-based strategy game. Armies are created and moved on a campaign map, but controlled in battle on a more zoomed-in battle map.
[edit] Game Location
The campaign map focuses entirely on the British Isles and some parts of northern France, modern day Brittany and Normandy. It is quite large in scale, and even relatively small geographic areas have many provinces within them.
[edit] Factions
There are twenty factions available, all categorised under "Briton", "Gael", "Pict" or "German", depending on the location and culture of the faction. While those of the same culture have similar units, they each have a unique unit and different advantages and disadvantages geographically. Each is shown with its culture and location (in modern-day terms).
