Arthur Lenk (1964 - ) (Hebrew: ארתור לנק) is currently the Ambassador of Israel to the Republic of Azerbaijan.

[edit] Diplomatic Career
Arthur Lenk was appointed as Israel's fourth Ambassador to Azerbaijan by the Government of Israel on 3 April 2005[1] and he submitted his credentials to President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev on 13 September 2005.
Prior to arriving in Baku, Lenk worked as an attorney in the Department of International Law, Office of the Legal Adviser, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Jerusalem. Between 2002 – 2005 he also served as a frequent Israeli Government spokesman and lecturer on foreign affairs and diplomacy, briefing and appearing on a range of international media sources including CNN, BBC,[2], Le Monde[3] and NPR. His primary responsibility was giving legal advice on United Nations related issues. In 2001 and 2004 Lenk served as Israel's representative to the United Nations General Assembly's Legal Committee. He was awarded an "outstanding diplomat" citation by Ministry of Foreign Affairs for his role within a group that coordinated Israel's initiative for the January 2005 United Nations Special Session commemorating the Sixtieth Anniversary of the freeing of Europe's Concentration Camps[4]. In 2003-04 he worked as part of the Israel Government's legal team on Israel's position regarding the Israel barrier case before the International Court of Justice. In 2000-01 he took part in Israel's interaction with the Sharm el-Sheikh Fact-Finding Committee ("The Mitchell Committee") which examined reasons for the start of violence in the region beginning in the autumn of 2000.[5]
Earlier, Arthur Lenk served as Consul for Communications and Public Affairs at the Consulate General of Israel to the Southwestern United States, Los Angeles, California (1998 – 2000) and as Second Secretary for Cultural and Academic Affairs at the Embassy of Israel in New Delhi, India (1996 – 1998). Lenk joined the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs as a foreign service cadet and participated in the Foreign Officer Training Program in 1994. Prior to joining the Israel foreign service, he worked as a lawyer in Jerusalem.

Arthur Lenk taught a graduate seminar in “Foreign Policy, International Law and the Arab-Israel Conflict”, at the Herzog Center for Middle East Studies and Diplomacy, Ben Gurion University of the Negev, in Be’er Sheva, during the fall semester of 2003. He holds two law degrees from the Faculty of Law, at Hebrew University of Jerusalem - an LL.M. in International Law (2003) and an LL.B. (1990). He attended high school at the Frisch School in Paramus, New Jersey.

· Member of bar in Israel (1991) and New York (1992).
· Fully fluent in English and Hebrew. Studying Azerbaijani.
· Served as a medic in the Israel Defense Forces and first aid instructor at the IDF's officer training school, 1984-1986
· Married to Ruth; they have three daughters – Margalit (13), Ilana (11) and Aiden (7).
