Arthur Abraham (born Avetik Abrahamyan in Yerevan, Armenia) is the current IBF champion of the middleweight division. He won the vacant title on December 10, 2005, in Leipzig, Germany, beating Kingsley Ikeke, via 5 round knock-out.
On September 23, 2006 Abraham won a highly controversial decision against Edison Miranda despite having his jaw broken in two places. The officiating and judging has been called into question, particularly over the five separate point deductions levied against Miranda. That coupled with the lopsided scorecards have led some to believe that holding the fight in Germany may have also played a factor. Abraham has not fought since this fight, but talks of a possible rematch have surfaced recently.
Abraham trains under Ulli Wegner in Berlin, Germany, and managed by Wilfried Sauerland.
