Arsinoitheriidae was a family of mammals belonging to the extinct order Embrithopoda. Remains have been found in the Middle East, Africa, Asia and Europe. Although they looked like modern a rhinoceros, they were not closely related. They lived from the Eocene to the Oligocene periods. The name comes from the ancient queen of Arsinoe, where some fossils were found belonging to Arsinoitherium near her palace.
