Arseblog
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Arseblog is an award winning football blog considered by many to be the 'Daddy' of club specific blogs about FA Premier League football teams due to its longevity and high readership. This is made obvious by the number of blogs relating to Arsenal FC when compared with any other team.[1]

[edit] Blog features
It began in February 2002 and has posted nearly every day since. It is well known for its uncompromising use of terrace language and witty humour. There is a lively comments section known as the 'arses' and a forum which is closed to new membership but opens sporadically to allow new members to apply. The daily blog is published early each morning, like a newspaper, which has been a big factor in its success.
There is also a weekly podcast, called the Arsecast, which has featured interviews with people such as Arsenal Chairman Peter Hill-Wood, former players Bob Wilson, Danny Karbassiyoon and Perry Groves. It regularly features in the top 25 in the iTunes music store charts for sports and recreation podcasts.
In October 2006 Arseblog launched a campaign to ensure that Perry Groves' recently released biography 'We all live in a Perry Groves world' outsold that of former player Ashley Cole who left the club in acrimonious circumstances [2]. It worked as Groves book became a bestseller while Cole's has been considered the nadir of football biographies and sold little more than 5,000 copies in total.
Groves now appears on Sky Sports as a pundit and has enjoyed increased media attention because of this campaign.
[edit] Awards
Arseblog was awarded the 'Best Sports Blog' prize in the 2007 Bloggies, beating off stiff competition from Gawker funded site Deadspin. [3]
