The 3 arrondissements of the Val-d'Oise department are:

1. Arrondissement of Argenteuil, (subprefecture: Argenteuil) with 7 cantons and 7 communes. The population of the arrondissement was 204,695 in 1990, and was 209,860 in 1999, an increase of 2.52%.
2. Arrondissement of Sarcelles, (subprefecture: Sarcelles) with 15 cantons and 61 communes. The population of the arrondissement was 410,382 in 1990, and was 427,716 in 1999, an increase of 4.22%.
3. Arrondissement of Pontoise, (prefecture of the Val-d'Oise department: Pontoise) with 17 cantons and 117 communes. The population of the arrondissement was 434,521 in 1990, and was 467,888 in 1999, an increase of 7.68%.
