The Army of Venezuela is a professional armed body designed to defend Venezuela's sovereignty and borders and aid in the development and progress of the country in any way possible. Army units have frequently participated in social actions and construction. It is the main component in the Venezuelan armed forces.

Some special forces units use the M16A2 assault rifle, Barret M82 rifle, H&K MP5 sub-machinegun, FN P90 sub-machinegun and the Mossberg M500 or Remington 870 shotgun.
