The AR-50 offers an affordable entry into the world of .50 caliber shooting. It is still not cheap, at $2,999 MSRP, but is considerably less expensive than many of its contemporaries. The AR-50 has never been adopted by any military. It was designed as a long range target rifle for civilians.

At roughly 34 pounds (15.5 kg) and 59.5 inches (151 cm) in length, this rifle is designed for use with a bipod. Recoil is very mild due to the weight and the excellent muzzle brake. As with any .50 BMG caliber firearm, however, one should have excellent hearing protection when firing or observing.
