According to [1] and [2], he had a Swedish grandparent, but what is the source for his parents being Swedish? Fleminra 08:43, Dec 1, 2004 (UTC)

ADM Burke gave the directions to build the Strategic Weapons System. VADM William Raborn was director of the program that built the missile system, who reported to Burke and the Secretary of the Navy, a similar level to Rickover. --Mtnerd 21:37, 3 April 2007 (UTC)

Is this for real? It's in the World War II section, and comes after statements that he commanded destroyer squadrons before being promoted to commodore and moved to carriers. Seems strange that there's no mention of any pilot training in the section on his earlier life, and seems strange that a naval aviator would command destroyer squadrons... I deleted that. I'm unaware he got his wings, & I suspect somebody mistook his role as TF58 escort commander for a flying position. I also deleted "relatively minor command positions"; command of a desron isn't minor. He was only a Captain at the time... Trekphiler 08:38, 18 March 2007 (UTC)
