Arlindo Barbeitos

Arlindo do Carmo Pires Barbeitos (born December 24, 1940 in Catete, Bengo province, Angola) is an Angolan poet.

He fled Angola in 1961 for political reasons, settling for a while in Frankfurt where he obtained a doctorate in anthropology and sociology. He returned to Angola in 1975 where he worked at the University of Angola.

He writes in Portuguese, and his work is influenced by the African verbal tradition, and Chinese and Japanese poetry.
