State Route 96, also known as SR-96, is a roughly east-west highway in central Arizona, running from Bagdad to Hillside. It was intended to serve as a route between the Phelps Dodge copper mines at Bagdad and the railroad terminal at Hillside; until the commission of State Route 97, this road was completely isolated from the rest of the Arizona State Highway system.
While some maps show SR-96 as continuing eastbound past Hillside to State Route 89 near Kirkland [1] this is not indicated as being under ADOT jurisdiction [2], but rather, numbered as Yavapai County Road 15.
