Arizona State Route 92
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
State Route 92 (SR 92) is an east-west state highway in Cochise County, Arizona that runs from the traffic circle at Bisbee to an intersection with State Route 90 in Sierra Vista. It is oriented as a north-south highway immediately south of Sierra Vista, and is located near Miracle Valley and the Coronado National Memorial. It is the most convenient way to access Mexico for residents of the Sierra Vista and Bisbee areas, as the Naco highway junction is located on the outskirts of Bisbee.
The highway was constructed in the 1930s, and originally covered the route from junction with State Route 82 at Whetstone to Bisbee, passing through the Fry/Sierra Vista area. In the 1960s, AZ 90 overtook AZ 92's segment north of Sierra Vista. Certain places in the area may still make reference to the prior numeric designation of the roadway, such as the "South 92 Car Wash" which is actually located near the current northern terminus of the highway.
