[edit] Awesome job on going to SF
It's nice to see another P2P app go open source. Not a "Pro" version in sight either!
[edit] Huge load of BS
This looks like Ares homepage
I can't find any evidence of any packaged spyware. It's open source. Can anyone prove me wrong here? There are plenty of ripoffs, but I don't see any spyware/adware. --69.142.38.54 05:02, 4 September 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Popularity
Seems like Ares is catching up to eMule as the most downloaded project on sourceforge, though if you count the multitude of eMule spinoffs (both the mods at sourceforge and distros like VeryCD), I'm sure eDonkey still has a much larger user base. Still, for a program that is apparently very popular, I haven't really seen or heard much about it. Can somebody discuss more about the origins of the program? Was it very popular in its days of being a Gnutella client? Cyaugin 07:35, 21 January 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Why is it detected as spyware?
Windows Defender and many other antivirus-antispyware applications now detect Ares as a threat. Is the new version bundled with third party applications or malware? --189.135.66.152 18:00, 5 February 2007 (UTC)
[edit] The detection as "spyware"
Ares is considered spyware because it is a peer-to-peer file sharing program. That means those files come from osmeone elses computer. No those files can have spyware malware and even viruses if people have infected them with it. I remeber my friend having Ares and his Norton Anti-Virus blocked it more than 100 times in 1 minute. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Hellraise21 (talk • contribs) 02:35, 6 February 2007 (UTC).
