Areias (Portuguese plural form of sand) it's a urban parish located 3 Km north of the city of Santo Tirso It has a population of 2,599 inhabitants, it has a total area of 2.77 km² and the density was 938.3/km².

INA (Instituto Nun Alvares)of the Jesuits order is located in that parish where exist also an Termal hot bath house.
