Ardfield

Ardfield is a small hamlet located in the West Cork region of Ireland located near the coast between Clonakilty and Rosscarbery and close to Galley Head at 51.5667 N and 8.91 W. According to the 2006 Census Ardfield had a population of 670.

Ardfield is part of the Roman Catholic parish of Ardfield/Rathbarry

Local amenities include a church, post office, pub and tennis courts . The centre of the village is located within 5 minutes drive of several beaches, including Red Strand,Sandscove and Dunnycove.


Every August Bank holdiay weekend, Ardfield comes alive for the Sandscove Fishing Competition.

Ardfield is home to St. James' GAA club, which compete at Junior A level Football and Hurling. In 2005, the club enjoyed its most successful year yet. Highlights included winning both hurling and football West Cork Junior B titles, Reaching the county semi-final in the football and Capturing the County Hurling title. In the spring of 2006, St James capped a wonderful year by winning the newly set up Munster championship and reaching the All Ireland Final.
