Ardeosaurus is an extinct genus of lizard of about 20 cm (8 in) long.
Ardeosaurus is thought to have been an ancestor of the modern geckos. It had a flattened head and typically large eyes (like modern geckos). This could indicate it was nocturnal. It is unknown whether Ardeosaurus was also able to walk on vertical surfaces, like modern geckos. The Ardeosaurus was found, or thought to be found in modern Germany, which was the area that the fossils had been found.
