[edit] Image Tagging Image:LICD_beach_group.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:LICD_beach_group.jpg. I notice it currently doesn't have an image copyright tag, so its copyright status is therefore unclear. Could you add a tag to let us know its copyright status? (If you created/took the picture then you can use {{gfdl}} to release it under the GFDL. If you can claim fair use use {{fairuse}}.) If you don't know what any of this means, just let me know on the image description page where you got the images and I'll tag them for you. Otherwise, see Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use. Thanks so much. --Kander 09:38, 8 August 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Re: Image Tagging
Hi Arcidius,
Thanks for attempting to clear up the copyright issue with the Least I Could Do image. I hate to sound pedantic on this, but could you tell me what permission was given by the original creators? You see, if permission was given to use the image on Wikipedia, we can't really use it, as Wikipedia is licensed under the GNU Free Documentation License, meaning it can be copied by anyone. If only Wikipedia has permission to use the image, it can't be copied legally and therefor can't be included in Wikipedia (as far as I understand.. please do note that I'm far from experienced in copyright and licensing matters, and am learning as I go myself!)
I know this may be pushing the boundaries, but would it be possible to ask the original creators if they are willing to release this one image under the GFDL? That way all copyrightissues would be cleared in one go, making the determination of the copyright status a lot easier. Basically the GFDL says that the copyright remains with the original owner, but that anyone can make copies and modifications of the material, as long as those copies and modifications are also GFDL-licensed.
Anyway, the tagging you used seems to be correct, except that you did not fill in a reason (hence the {{{1}}} in the text of the copyright tag). I'll remove the Copyright Unknown tag for now, as we're working on establishing it's status.
Again, thank you. Glad to see people working actively on clearing such issues up. Kander 22:41, 11 August 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Wikimedia Canada
Hi there! I'd like to invite you to explore Wikimedia Canada, and create a list of people interested in forming a local chapter for our nation. A local chapter will help promote and improve the organization, within our great nation. We'd also like to encourage everyone to suggest projects for our national chapter to participate in. Hope to see you there!--DarkEvil 02:04, 4 February 2006 (UTC)
[edit] License tagging for Image:LICD John.gif
Thanks for uploading Image:LICD John.gif. Wikipedia gets hundreds of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

[edit] Image tagging for Image:Lfgteam.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:Lfgteam.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the source and creator of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the source and creator of the image on the image's description page, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided source information for them as well.
