My name is Jeffery Nichols and I am a Canadian 23 year old human male. I grew up in Agincourt, Ontario (part of Toronto) and am now a student at Queen's University in Kingston majoring in Canadian Studies. Despite my username, I am not a wikignome. This was just the name I've been using elsewhere on the Internet. I first started editing Wikipedia in April 2005. This is the most useful site on the web, and I love this place, but my school marks would be a letter grade higher if I spent as much time working on papers as I did working on articles.
Most of my edits are about Canadian political history and Canadian political process; as such, I am a member of WikiProject Canada. Like many Wikipedians, I also work on articles about nerd media. I've done quite a bit of work regarding little articles on parliamentary process, like De facto head of state and Parliamentary session. I made most of the articles in the series 1st to 39th Canadian parliament and in the series 1st to 28th Canadian Ministry. I also spend a good amount of time working on lists. You may have already concluded that I like working on lists about Canadian political history and lists about nerd media. In this vane, I'm very proud of List of Canadian federal parliaments and Lengths of science fiction film and television series. I don't think there is anywhere else — web or book — with such comprehensive information in a single table as there is in those two lists.
I spend a lot of time in the various featured status discussions on lists and images. Recently, I've been working on featured topics. I put together the look of the pages, linked everything up, and re-wrote the criteria. It's now finally starting to get attention. On the good side, this means that stuff is getting nominated for it. On the bad side, it means that people are questioning its existence and asking for changes for which it is not ready.
I'm getting pretty experienced with the wiki code, especially in templates. I'm nowhere close to an expert on computers, but I've taught myself a fair amount about how this stuff is written. I'm also think I've gotten the idea of how to work within Wikipedia discussions, though its hard to keep one's cool when one's beloved articles are faced with the prospect of deletion.
I’ve taken off opinion stuff from this page, as those made me POV and not really fit to write and edit an encyclopaedia. I've also been trying to stop paying attention to my exact edit count, as it was fairly silly way of measuring contribution since edits can very greatly in size (though FYI, it's about 8000, of which 5000 are in the mainspace).
That’s about all I have to say. If you have anything to say, please visit my talk page. Cheers.
