[edit] Regnal numbers?
I'm curious about the use in this list of numbers, e.g. "William IV of Melton". I haven't seen this usage elsewhere, and their Wikipedia articles don't generally seem to use the numbers, except in the case of the bishops with exactly the same name (e.g. Thomas I and Thomas II). Is there a precedent for the use of numbers for bishops? TSP 17:10, 22 December 2006 (UTC)
- I wondered about this too when I updated the template, so I'm going to remove them... if anyone feels this is inappropriate, please revert! PMJ
- Well, I've done it, left in the Saxon bishops' numbers as there's no other way of updating them. Changed Thomas I of York to Thomas of Bayeux and Thomas II of York to Thomas of York also, Cardinal Wolsey to Thomas Wolsey for consistency. PMJ
