Archie Miles

Archie Miles (born 1952) is a freelance photographer and writer. He was born in Harrogate, Yorkshire in 1952, and studied photography at Trent Polytechnic from 1971-1974. His books, mainly about trees and natural history, are often illustrated with his own photography. Some of his books include The Victorian Portrait (1989), Travels through Elgar Country (1992), Silva, The Tree in Britain (1999), and Malvern Hills and Westward (2002). Miles has a picture library of more than 300,000 images; approximately 200,000 of these are of trees and tree-related images. He lives in Herefordshire with his life partner, Jan Trewin, with whom he has two daughters, Rowan and Eleanor.
