Main article: Bishop of Glasgow

A Bishop of Glasgow had existed in the Catholic Church since the early 12th century. In 1492, it was elevated by the Papacy to the status of archdiocese. The archbishops seized to give their allegiance to the Pope after the Scottish Reformation.
