Archaefructus liaoningensis |
Archaefructus is an extinct genus of herbaceous aquatic flowering plants. Fossil material assigned to this genus originates from the Early Cretaceous Yixian Formation in northeastern China. Archaefructus is one of the three earliest known genera of flowering plants.
Archaefructaceae has been proposed as a new basal angiosperm family.[1]
