[edit] History

Up until the 20th Century, the Dutch "Above the Moerdijk" (this is the part geographically above the three great rivers in the Netherlands, more precise the provinces North-Holland and South-Holland, didn't consider the area worthwhile. Later integration started and the people from Arcen-en-Velden felt like real Dutch. But the connection especially with their German neighbours was still strong. During World War II the bond lessened.
