Scream is a 2005 film satire of the horror film genre, directed by Wes Craven and written by Kevin Williamson. The film revitalized the slasher film genre in the mid 1990s by using a standard concept (teens being brutally killed off being one example) with a tongue-in-cheek approach that successfully combined straightforward scares with dialogue that satirized slasher film conventions, (for example, the final girl). The film was a major hit upon its release, and was one of the highest grossing films of 2005. It was also highly acclaimed by many critics worldwide.

The film follows teenaged girl, Cindy Prescott who is suffering from many problems such as trying to get over her mother's death due to a traffic accident as well as her boyfriend, Alex Carter wants to get serious with her, wanting to the two to lose their virginity to one another. To make matters much worse, her town, Woodsboro is in complete shock and dispair due to two of her classmates, Steve Orth and Casey Becker were savagely murdered by a mysterious figure known as "Ghostface" who wears a Halloween costume crossed with both the Grim Reaper's appearance and the famous painting The Scream. On the case is Chief Police Commisioning Officer Derek Myers and Sheriff Burke as well as the abnauxious newsreporter Gale Weathers and her gullible camera-man Kenny Jones.

Cindy and her friends, Tiffany, Paige and Brenda as well as their boyfriends Alex, Zack, Bobby and Ray are more than talkative about the murders. During the following night, Cindy is attacked by Ghostface barely managing to survive by contacting the police, Cindy is taken into the Police station and her boyfriend Alex is accused of being the infamus attacker. Cindy is forced to stay at Tiffany's house until her father gets back from his buisiness trip in 4 or 5 days. Cindy is horrified to recieve a phone call from the killer obviously meaning it couldn't be Alex. Meanwhile during the same night, another of Cindy's classmates, Heather Cooper is murdered by Ghostface.

Alex is soon let out due to Heather's death and Cindy's phone call, obviously meaning that he couldn't be the killer. Cindy is in school the next day when she is attacked once again by Ghostface, in the girl's bathroom. Prior, to the attack school is closed and a nationwide curfew is set by the goverment until the issue is resolved. With everyone gone, Ghostface murders Principal Himbry. When the student, Sarah Daling comes back for her P.E bag she is also murdered along with her boyfriend, Terry Forest.

Due to Cindy's attack in the bathroom she is forced to go with two police officers along with anohter student attacked, Alyson McDaniel. However, the killer breaks into the car killing both police officers. Cindy and Alyson flee and hide in an abadoned medical centre inwhich Alyson is eventually murdered by Ghostface.

To celebrate schools being temporarily closed, Zack comes up with a plan to throw a small party at his house inwhich Cindy is not too sure on going until Tiffany and Paige pursaude her to. During the party, Gale and Officer Derek Myers go into the house and secretly put a video camera so she can see what they're up to in her van. After, Gale gets back into her van and watches to partying teens with Kenny.

Meanwhile, the popularist girl in school, Karen Gilmore (who also seemingly bullies Cindy) is drowned in her garden pond by Ghostface, along with her dog, Roxy. At the party, Bobby recieves a phone call from his friends as they want picking up to come to the party. Paige (the only one who can drive there with a valid license) is forced to go pick them up. Paige heads for the car, opens her door with the car keys and accidentally drops the keys. The keys seemed to have dissapeared until they appear back in the spot where she left them a moment later. A confused Paige doesn't notice Ghostface has opened the car boot with them before putting them back in the same spot, and sneaked into the back seat. While Paige is still thinking over the matter, Ghostface lunges at her, and slits her throat.

The partygoers begin to watch a horror film, Ray and Brenda (who don't want to) go upstairs to make love. Ray who wants to some beer goes downstairs and enters the kitchen and closes the kitchen door so the partygoers don't annoy him. Suddenly there is a tap on the backyard door, seeming as it is in the kitchen. He opens it to be knocked to his feet by Ghostface. Ghostface picks up a metal ladel from the side and beats Ray to death with it, with the partygoers being so loud, they cannot hear his cries for help.

Ghostface sneakily makes his way upstairs without the partyers noticing. Brenda is on the phone to someone when Ghostface sneaks behind her and viciously strangles her to death with the telephone chord, Brenda doesn't even have a chance to evem see Ghostface.

With everyone complaining about no beer, Tiffany is forced to go down the garage to get some. While there she is also attacked by Ghostface, cutting her arm. Tiffany puts up a fight, slamming the refrigerator door in the killer's face and throwing numerous beer bottles at her attacker. She plans to escape through the cat flap located on the automatic garage door only for her to get stuck half way, Ghostface presses the button to raise the door causing Tiffany to have her head crushed and neck broken by it.

Zack gets a phonecall and word gets out about the Principal's, Sarah Darling's and Terry Forest murder, making many people go to see his corpses just as Alex arrives on the scene. Cindy and Alex go upstairs to talk while Zack and Bobby continue to watch the horror movie. Realising Brenda and Ray still maybe having sex (although they are dead) Cindy and Alex go into a different bedroom. Alex and Cindy almost lose their virginity towards eachother but Ghostface arrives and kills Alex. Cindy manages to escape running into the room inwhich Ray and Brenda were meant to be having sex. Cindy discovers Brenda's, Ray's and Paige's murdered bodies while in there and she climbs through the window also discovering Tiffany's lifeless body hanging from the garage door.

Cindy rushes into Gale's newsvan, inwhich Gale has gone out leaving only Kenny inside. While inside she witnesses Ghostface murdering Bobby and Zack. Kenny goes outside to find Gale only to step outside and be killed by Ghostface. Cindy rushes out and is involved with a cat-and-mouse chase with the killer while Gale arrives back at her van to be stepping in blood, driving off to see Kenny's body splattered on the windscreen. Cindy locks herself into the blood-bathed house and Ghostface breaks in who finally reveals himself and the shocking truth is revealed, the killer is non-other than Derek Myers and explains to her why he is the serial killer. He suffered from a mental problem and when a bunch of teenagers stole his car one day, he vowed to get revenge on all the teenagers of Woodsboro and anyone related to them (which is why he killed the school principal) as well as anyone who stood in his way (such as Kenny).

Derek chases Cindy throughout the house until he loses her, and Cindy is pinned down by him and is about to stab her when an extremely banged up Gale shoots him. He raises up once again but it shot in the head powerfully, by Cindy killing him once and for all. Cindy is taken to custody and Gale gets one hell of a journalism story.

• Cindy Prescott - The main protagonist of the film and the main victim of the psychotic killer known as "Ghostface". Cindy is an ordinary teenaged girl around the age of 16-17, living in Woodsboro, USA. Her mother died due to a car crash when Cindy was 10 years old. She lives with her father, Neil who is away on buisiness an awful lot. Cindy is one of the four notable characters who survives. Portrayed by Neve Campbell.

• Alex Carter - Cindy's boyfriend. Alex is always attempting to try to do "serious" things with Cindy such as trying to make her lose her virginaty towards him. He doesn't like to talk about the killings committed by Ghostface and is always there for Cindy and the rest of their gang. He is the 12th victim of Ghostface, being viciously stabbed about 5 times rapidly in the stomach and a final stab straight through his neck while Cindy is babysitting Tommy and Lindsay Doyle, right before Cindy is about to lose her virginity towards him. Portrayed by Skeet Ulrich.

• Tiffany Riley - Tiffany was probably the best friend of Cindy and a member of Cindy's gang. She is commited to stop sexist acts such as saying men are stronger and can really stick up for herself such as punching Gale Weathers in the face. She is dating Zack Matcher. Tiffany is the 11th victim of Ghostface; while getting some bottles of beers and sodas from the garage while with Cindy babysitting Tommy and Lindsay Doyle, she is attacked by Ghostface and attempts to escape through the "doggie-door" located on the garage's automatic door, but Ghostface presses the "lift up" button causing Tiffany to have her head crushed and neck broken due to the terrible impact and force. Portrayed by Rose McGowan.

• Zack Matcherson -Zack was the boyfriend of Tiffany Riley and another member of Cindy's gang. He is a total "horror buff" continuesly talking about horror films and when Ghostface hits the scene, Cindy, Tiffany ect. think it his him (due to Ghostface's obsession with horror films). He is the 13th victim of Ghostface; while Cindy is hiding with Kenny Jones in Gale Weather's van, she witnesses Ghostface elapsing the television screen that Zack was watching straight on top of his head and Zack die's due to the serious electricity shock. Portrayed by Matthew Lillard.

• Paige Browning - Paige is another member of Cindy's gang. She cares a lot on how she looks such as hair styles, nail polish colors on her manicured nails ect. She dated Bobby Simms. Paige was the 8th victim of Ghostface; after entering her car alone to drive home to pick up some videos from her house, Ghostface emerged from the backseat and slit her throat. Portrayed by Anna Faris.

• Brenda Meeks - Brenda is another member of Cindy's gang. She dated Ray Wilkins. She liked to watch pornography and have sex with Ray a lot, being the only couple in the gang to have had lost their virginity to one another. While Brenda and Ray were making love in Cindy's empty house while she babysat Tommy and Lindsay Doyle, Ray was murdered by Ghostface as Brenda partially witnessed. Making her run upstairs to call the police only for Ghostface to strangle her to death with the telephone chord she was using right before the police could answer making her the 10th victim of Ghostface. Portrayed by Regina Hall.

• Ray Wilkins - Ray was the boyfriend of Brenda Meeks and another member of Cindy's gang. Ray likes to have sex with Brenda a lot, being the only couple in the gang to have had lost their virginity to one and other. While making love with Brenda is Cindy's empty house while she babysat Tommy and Lindsay Doyle, Ray went downstairs to investigate some noises and was battered to death by Ghostface using one of the kitchen's metal ladels, making him the 9th victim of Ghostface. Portrayed by Shawn Wayans.

• Bobby Simms - Bobby was the boyfriend of Paige Browning and another member of Cindy's gang. Not much is revealed about Bobby. He is taken into police custody after being suspected as being Ghostface as he walked past Heather Cooper's house moments later after she was murdered. He was killed in his jail cell after being impaled through the head with a metal pole when putting his head against a wall which had repeated banging and thumping on it, making him the 7th victim of Ghostface. Portrayed by Jon Abrahams.

• Karen Gilmore - Karen was Cindy and her friends enemy. She was probably the popularist girl in school and head cheerleader of B.A Woodsboro High. After hearing her dog suddenly stops barking she goes outside on her garden to investigate. She discovers her dog Roxy's body floating in the garden pond as she walks up to it, Ghostface runs up to her and viciously drowns her, making her the 6th victim of Ghostface and her dog being the 5th. Portrayed by Elizabeth Shannon.

• Heather Cooper - Heather was a big school "geek" being the only eager student to run for class president and being the only student to actually volunteer to read their class projects ect. She was taunted and teased by Ghostface in her home before Ghostface invaded it and threw her off the house's balcony, making her the 3rd victim of Ghostface. Portrayed by Sarah-Michelle Gellar.

• Gale Weathers - Gale is a newsreporter who was reporting the serial killings happening in Woodsboro. At the start she appeared obnauxious, lying and scheming but by the end of the film she was very heroic saving Cindy and actually killing Ghostface. It is also notable she was one of the four characters that survived. Portrayed by Courtney Cox.

• Principal Arthur Himbry - Arthur Himbry was the principal of B.A Woodsboro High and was absolutely disgusted and shocked about the horrific murders of Casey Becker and Steve Orth. While alone in his office he was rapidly stabbed several times in his stomach by Ghostface, being the 4th victim of Ghostface. Portrayed by William Hughes.

• Casey Becker and Steve Orth - Casey appeared in the prologue of the film. She was a nice, polite, bubbly teenaged girl all alone in her house waiting for her boyfriend to arrive. She started to recieve phonecalls from Ghostface, at first nice but they got more deadlier and more threatening. After answering a question wrong in a so-called game Ghostface wanted to play with her, she witnessed her boyfriend, Steve Orth being electrocuted from one of her patio chairs. From then on she was murdered by Ghostface being stabbed deeply around 3 times and was then hung from a big oak tree for her distraught parents to discover. Portrayed by Danielle Barrymore and Tyler Forest.

• Chief Derek Myers / Ghostface - Derek Myers was the chief police officer of Woodsboro who appeared to be nice and friendly. After years of studying and watching the behavioural habits, crimes, personality and background from some of his prisoners, Derek started to suffer from mental problems having nervous break downs a lot. One day, a couple of teenagers high-jacked and stole his car. This made Derek so obsurdly mad he went criminally insane and decided to retrieve vengeance by murdering many teenagers of Woodsboro and anybody else who stood in his way, donning a special costume and making the name "Ghostface" for himself. He then made threatening and taunting phonecalls to some of his victims often asking them his famous trademark, "Do you like scary movies?" Gale Weathers and Cindy Prescott finally managed to end his reign of terror by shooting two powerful gun bullets into his head. Portrayed by David Arquette.

Ghostface forces Casey to play a trivia game inwhich she must answer questions to keep him and herself alive. After getting a question wrong, Casey watches in dispair as her boyfriend is electrocuted to death with electric wires, plugs and sockets which weren't on him the first time Casey saw him.
2	Casey Becker	Stabbing	After her boyfriend dies, she is pursued by Ghostface, chasing her and stabbing her directly above her left breast. Casey just misses her parents entering the house, falling on her feet in pain, Casey is then stabbed more and more by the psychotic killer. Her parents confused and worried step outside to view Casey's bloody corpse hanging with rope from a big oak tree across the road.
3	Heather Cooper	Falling	After Cindy's attack with the killer, Ghostface targets one of Cindy's classmates, Heather Cooper. Several threatening calls lead Heather upstairs where she is chased by Ghostface until she reaches her house's balcony, inwhich Ghostface throws her off of.
4	Officer Andrew Richards	Stabbing	While with Officer Lynne Ambrose taking Cindy and another Ghostface victim, Alyson McDaniel to a special "calm-down" zone but Ghostface attacks the car, smashing Officer Andrew's side window, powerfully stabbing him directly in his heart.
5	Officer Lynne Ambrose	Impalement	Due to Ghostface's attack on the car, it crashes into a nearby construction site. An unconsious Ghostface suddenly awakens just as Officer Lynne is about to un-mask the killer. The three (Lynne, Cindy and Alyson) run out of the car in panic, Ghostface reverses the vehicle back into a box-full of jagged, sharp poles inwhich they tumble to the ground below, one impaling Officer Lynne straight through the head.
6	Alyson McDaniel	Decompression	Cindy and Alyson flee from Ghostface (prior to the attack on the police car) and run into an abandoned medical centre. As the two endure into a cat-and-mouse chase with the killer, Ghostface suddenly jumps up injecting pure air into Alyson's neck with an IV needle which causes serious decompression killing her.
7	Principal Arthur Himbry	Stabbing	After Ghostface attacks Cindy in the girl's bathroom at B.A Woodsboro High School, all students are sent home early and a nationwide curfew is set. With Principal Himbry alone he is continuesly interrupted from his work with several knocking doors with nobody there after opening. He soon gets very annoyed until he opens another door and then closing it revealing Ghostface is hidden behind it. He then quickly strikes by stabbing the Principal several times, rapidly in his stomach and abdomen.
8	Sarah Darling	Stabbing	Soon as Principal Himbry is murdered, another of Cindy's classmates, Sarah, realises that she has forgotten a school book. Back inside school she recieves phonecalls from Ghostface with her cellphone. Ghostface soon appears and after a chase scene, Ghostface grabs her and pushes her head straight through the glass window frame on a classroom door and then stabs her deep in the back deeply.
9	Terry Foster	Head Trauma	While taking a walk another of Cindy's classmates, Terry, is taking a walk when he gets a phone call from Ghostface. Gale Weathers and her camera-man, Kenny are nearby as well but decide to take a walk. As Terry walks past their news-van (cellphone in hand), the van door slides open revealing Ghostface who drags Terry inside and takes several beatings to the head with s strong spanner.
10	Karen Gilmore	Drowning	One of the popularist girls in school (as well as being a bully of Cindy). While home alone her dog, Roxy is barking severely. Karen goes outside on her back garden to investigate she discovers he dog is unconsious in the garden pond. Karen leans over the pond (crouched-down) when Ghostface walks up to her, grabbing her head and drowning her in the pond's water.
11	Paige Browning	Throat slashed	During Zack's party, Paige is forced to pick up some more friends seeming as she is the only one there with a valid driver's license. She unlocks the door with car keys but then accidentally drops them. As she looks in the spot where she dropped them, they have seemingly dissapeared. She puzzles for a moment to look again only for the keys to have appeared back. She gets in the car and sorts out her hair only for the car boot to open and Ghostface crawl inside the vehicle and jumping out on her, after a short struggle, Ghostface slits her throat with his hunting knife.
12	Ray Wilkins	Beaten to death	During Zack's party, Ray and Brenda make love in Zack's parent's bedroom. Ray goes down for something to eat inside the kicthen, shutting the door so the partyers don't annoy him. A knock on the kitchen door that leads to the back garden startles him. He opens it only to be knocked to his feet by Ghostface. The killer grabs a metal kitchen ladel and beats Ray to death with it. With the partyers being quite loud they cannot hear Ray's cries for help.
13	Brenda Creeshaw	Strangulation	After murdering Ray, Ghostface sneakily makes his way upstairs and Brenda is on the phone with the bed covers around her. Ghostface grabs the telephone chord and strangles her to death with it, Brenda not even having a chance to see her killer.
14	Tiffany Riley	Crushing	During Zack's party, Tiffany is forced to go to the garage to get some beer from the refrigerator in there. As she does, she is attacked by Ghostface (who she thinks is Zack playing a joke until the killer slices her arm with his knife). She rips the refrigerator door off it's hinges, smacking Ghostface in the face. She then picks up the bottles she dropped and throws them at her attacker. Attempting to escape she attempts to crawl through the cat flap located on the automatic garage door. Getting stuck half way, Ghostface presses the raise-up button causing Tiffany to have her head crushed and neck broken due to the serious and vital impact.
