[edit] Diving

The Diving discipline will consist of individual springboard, individual platform, synchronized springboard, and synchronized platform events both for men and women, making a total of eight events. One event will be held per day starting August 17 and will last until the end of the Olympics.

[edit] Swimming

The Swimming discipline will consist of 17 events for men and 17 for women; both schedules are the same except that the men's 1500m freestyle is replaced by an 800m freestyle in the women's schedule. Swimming received two new events from the International Olympic Committee, the Marathon 10km for both men and women, for these and future games. The event will be held outdoors in an open body of water.

[edit] Synchronized swimming

The Synchronized swimming discipline is solely for the participation of women. Female swimmers will compete in two events, the duet competition and the team competition.

[edit] Water polo

The Water polo discipline will consist of two events: a 12-team tournament for men and an 8-team tournament for women.
