Aquascutum

Aquascutum is a UK-based clothing and apparel manufacturer.
In 1851, John Emary opened a tailor's shop in Regent Street, London. He experimented with techniques for showerproofing wool and, in 1853, the breakthrough was made. Emary renamed his company to Aquascutum, Latin for "water shield".
During the Crimean War, Aquascutum were able to provide soldiers with coats made from this new fabric. In 1917 it was introduced onto trench coats, worn by soldiers during the First and Second world wars.
The brown and blue Aquascutum Club Check, which appeared in the 1970s, is now an integral part of the company's branding.
The Current Heads of design are Micheal Herz and Graeme Fidler.
The brand has become a favourite of European football hooligans (casuals).
