Apress, Inc. is a publisher which publishes books on on information technology. The company currently publishes more than ten books each month, primarily on Microsoft technologies, open source, Java and Oracle.

Apress was founded by Gary Cornell and Dan Appleman, both of whom have written numerous programming books. The company initially focused on Microsoft Windows and Java topics. When Microsoft released .NET, Apress started to focus heavily on the subject, with their .NET books soon constituting the majority of their output. They also publish an occasional "Technology in Action"™ title which are books mostly on robotics and Lego Mindstorms.

The topics covered and the number of books that Apress published changed dramatically in 2003, when Apress purchased most of the bankrupt Peer Information Group's intellectual property, including friends of ED™. Apress also own ASP Today, a subscription based website about Microsoft's ASP.NET technology.

Apress books are available worldwide, both through brick-and-mortar bookstores and online resellers. The company also has an online shop and sells most of its titles electronically at a significant discount.
