"MOVIE STAR: PEGGIE CASTLE was born in Appalachia."

Is there any available data that backs up the above assertion? If not, I believe it should go away until supporting data can be cited. --Takeel 21:58, 5 January 2006 (UTC)

Found it in IMDB. That's good enough for me, so I'll just clean it up in the article at least. --Takeel 01:23, 6 January 2006 (UTC)
Also noted in the Peggie Castle article! Doh! --Takeel 01:26, 6 January 2006 (UTC)

[edit] link to http://www.appalachiava.net

Please see User talk:Davins111 for a bit of discussion on the link to http://www.appalachiava.net/ in this article. I propose removing it and linking to the sites that are linked from http://www.appalachiava.net/ instead. http://www.appalachiava.net/ appears to have little to no actual content of its own aside from links to other sites. --Takeel 01:59, 25 April 2006 (UTC)

It also appears that the website may belong to Davins111. See discussion about this at User talk:Davins111. --Takeel 18:32, 25 April 2006 (UTC)

I've removed the link. Unless it offers original content relevant to this article, it's an inappropriate link from this page. Fagstein 19:16, 7 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] http://www.appalachiava.net

The website: http://www.appalachiava.net, is the Town of Appalachia, Virginia's official website. That link needs to be on the Appalachia, Virginia article. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 71.171.5.72 (talk • contribs) .

Hi, there. It doesn't look like that domain is registered to the town's municipal government. Would you happen to have any evidence to back up your claim? --Takeel 03:51, 14 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Re: http://www.appalachiava.net

To: Takeel, The website domain is not registered through the town government, but the Town manager, gave the site owner approval of that website to be the town's official, if you think this is still false I can get the town manager to write a document on that. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 71.171.5.72 (talk • contribs) .

On Wikipedia, it's important that claims are verifiable. In this case, it would probably be challenging to provide the necessary verifiability if a letter from the town manager is necessary because that would be difficult to cite. Why don't you ask the community for ideas over at the village pump? Click here to check it out. --Takeel 04:26, 14 November 2006 (UTC)
For information this has already been a mediation case on this subject, which ended with removing the link. I am a bit suspicious because User:71.171.5.72 is not signed in but sees to be as keen on including the site as the previous user in the mediation case User:Davins111. It is possible that this is the same user trying again. --MarkS (talk) 15:18, 14 November 2006 (UTC)
My second thought on this is that the website doesn't seem to contain much of value. If the website had a wide range of information about the town then I wouldn't object to its inclusion whether it was official or not. --MarkS (talk) 15:18, 14 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Appalachia's new official website.

Hello, The town of Appalachia, Virginia just launched there new website today!

The website URL is no longer at appalachiava.net

The website address is:

http://www.townofappalachia.com (the website address may not work yet, but it will within 25 hours, since they just launched it)

You may contact the town hall... If you don't beleive this is correct. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 72.66.211.73 (talk • contribs).

Good day. I have removed the link because the linked website doesn't currently have any information other than a link to appalachiava.net. Also, for what it's worth, the burden of proof for including information in an article here typically lies with the individual or individuals propsing the inclusion. This means that if you'd like to include something, it's important that *you* ensure that it's verifiable. --Takeel 23:55, 14 December 2006 (UTC)
Okay. I will not add the link anymore. I will not contribute to the Wikipedia website, in the futre, and neither will the town administration.

[edit] Reference 2 (Yahoo News/AP link)

Regarding the link to Yahoo News, the story originated from Associated Press. This is probably a reliable source, so I reverted the edit that removed this reference. I hope that nobody minds. Thanks. --Takeel 05:04, 4 January 2007 (UTC)

The link to the Yahoo news story doesn't work me. Yahoo tells me the page cannot be found. If the news item originated from Associated Press then shouldn't the reference refer directly to Associated Press rather than a (broken) derivative of the story. --MarkS (talk) 08:00, 4 January 2007 (UTC)
Thanks for the notice; I fixed the URL. --Takeel 15:00, 4 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] We need to block the Appalachia, VA article, so that people that aren't users can't edit.
