Apoorva Lakhia

Apoorva Lakhia is an Indian film director.

Before becoming a film director, Apoorva was an assistant director for Ashutosh Gowariker's period epic film Lagaan: Once Upon a Time in India. He had also been an assistant for Hollywood films such as The Ice Storm and Addicted to Love.

He made his debut as a director with the 2002 film Mumbai Se Aaya Mera Dost which like Lagaan was set in a village. The film starred Abhishek Bachchan and Lara Dutta in lead roles. Despite high expectations, the film was a failure at the box office.

His second film Ek Ajnabee released in 2005 and starring Amitabh Bachchan in the leading role was a remake of the Hollywood film Man on Fire. This film was also a flop at the box office but was praised for its stylish and glossy look and the performances.

His third film Shootout at Lokhandwala which has a multi-star cast is scheduled for release in 2007.
