Apocalyptic Raids 1990 A.D. (1990) |
Apocalyptic Raids was originally released in 1984 as a 12" EP, then re-issued in 1990 with a new cover. Hellhammer's first and only official record is a cult item in the metal underground even today.
Boasting four tracks, the most famous of which is Triumph of Death, this album has served as an influence to such varied and respected bands as Napalm Death and Sepultura (who recently covered "Messiah" in their cover EP).
The band would split up only weeks after recording this album, and would later reform as Celtic Frost. Despite the reissue, which added two songs to the original four and boasted new artwork, the original vinyl is still selling for as much as $60 in second-hand shops all over the world.
