Aonghas MacNeacail

Aonghas MacNeacail (1942 -, nickname "Aonghas Dubh" - black Aonghas) is a contemporary poet in the Scottish Gaelic language. He is highly influenced by the Black Mountain School of the USA, and tends to work in highly modern idioms.
He was registered at birth as Angus Nicholson, but has changed his official name to match his native Gaelic name.
He won the Stakis Prize for Scottish Writer of the Year with his third collection, Oideachadh Ceart ('A Proper Schooling and other poems'), in 1997.
