Anwar Pervez

Sir Anwar Pervez (Urdu: سر انور پرویز) is a Pakistan-born businessman in the United Kingdom Sir Anwar Pervez has been ranked as the 12th richest Asian in Great Britain. He is the first Pakistan-origin person to achieve this distinction.

According to the Sunday Times, Sir Pervez is the richest of Pakistani in the UK with assets valued at £390 million. the Sunday Times published a list of the50 richest Asian businessmen in the UK, which placed Indian steel giant, Lakshmi Mittal, first. The list included Sri Hinduja and Gopi Hinduja, Anurag Dikshit, Anil Agarwal, Jatania brothers, Naresh Goyal, Vikrant Bhargava, Gulu Lalvani and Tom Singh. Sir Anwar Pervez was positioned at No 12.

The Sunday Times report stateed that Sir Pervez owns the second largest cash and carry wholesale network in Britain. He currently resides in London and has converted his business into Bestway Group, an retail empire with assets of hundreds of millions pounds. He was the first ever Pakistani to be knighted by Queen Elizabeth II.

Perves started The Bestway Group as a cornershop in London in the 60's, and then moved into the wholesale business in 1976. The name Bestway originates from one of Sir Anwars four original business partners who are still with the company. [1]

Bestway Tottenham appeared in the fist episode of The Apprentice when the contestants went in to buy coffee for a task set by Sir Alan Sugar.
