Anuha Island Resort
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Anuha Island Resort was located on Anuha Island in the province of Malaita in the Solomon Islands. It was an Australian-owned luxury resort that had its own airport, charter boat fleet and airline. The site spanned 160 acres, featuring tree lined leafy paths between the bungalows set in Malanesian style against the lush, mountainous rainforest of the Florida group of islands. The resort was burned down over a land ownership dispute in 1988. Throughout the past years, plans have existed to re-open the resort but these never came to execution.
The Resort was successfully developed and managed by Queensland based businessmen John Donnelly and Peter Cornish. It was a major draw-card for tourism in the region. Ownership later changed hands over the course of the Resort's history. It played host to a number of well-known identities and celebrities.
Anuha Island is surrounded by a shallow lagoon, leading out to a surrounding reef.
Anuha Island is one of the most beautiful Islands in the world, and remains a popular dive location.
