Welcome!

Hello Anthony717, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are a few good links for newcomers:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. If you have any questions, check out Wikipedia:Where to ask a question or ask me on my talk page. Again, welcome!

It's a good idea to use the Sandbox for experimentation or even create a subgpage to your User page to do this. Much less likely to cause strife than creating a sandbox-style page! Budgiekiller 19:45, 11 December 2005 (UTC)

Remember to always sign all of your posts on talk pages. Typing four tildes after your comment ( ~~~~ ) will insert a signature showing your username and a date/time stamp, which is very helpful. -- Thesquire (talk - contribs) 22:01, 28 December 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Lighter than air

Hi, your recent edit war with psb777 is only going to get both of you in trouble. Better to take it to the talk page and work it out there. Personally, I didn't favor your edits although I understand the reasoning you are going by. Jonathan888 (talk) 23:56, 14 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] 2005 Hertfordshire Oil Storage Terminal fire

Hi, I've taken the divs out fro the moment, because, although they fixed the edit tags, they broke the text alignment (text under images) under Firefox. There may be a fix, but I don'e know what it is. Rich Farmbrough 14:07, 14 December 2005 (UTC)

I've put them back with width increased to 320, seem ok now. Rich Farmbrough 14:10, 14 December 2005 (UTC)

[edit] CFLs

Great contributions and refinements to the article. Do you have any suggestions for the proposed Template:ArtificialLightSources?   Thanks. -- Dogears 21:29, 27 March 2006 (UTC)

  • The categories that you created make the most sense. The discussion was leading towards creating a new list of all possible light sources, while the infobox is a small & quick index of the major types of "light bulbs" that a consumer is interested in comparing. Difficult to buy a nuclear lamp down at the hardware store (except for a watch). Awaiting some consensus from the discussion. -- Dogears 01:39, 28 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Template:ArtificialLightSources

Hi, I saw your edit to Template:ArtificialLightSources. You might want to join the discussion at Template talk:ArtificialLightSources.--Srleffler 06:22, 28 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] TfD nomination of Template:Lightsources

Template:Lightsources has been nominated for deletion. You are invited to comment on the discussion at the template's entry on the Templates for Deletion page. Thank you.--Srleffler 01:23, 7 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Renewable energy links

I had asked in the #wikipedia IRC channel on FreeNode what to do with your article, because it was not in accordance to the Wikipedia style guide (no link lists) - see: WP:NOT. Obiously one of the admins decided to delete the article. I appreciate your work on searching the companies and I think the best way to contribute it to wikipedia would be to post the links to their appropiate renewable energy article. (i.e. post links to wind turbine companies to the external links section of the wind energy page) Thehardwareman 08:45, 15 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Business blog

Business blog has been proposed for deletion. An editor felt this information might not be verifiable. Please review Wikipedia:Verifiability for the relevant policy. If you can improve the article to address these concerns, please do so, citing sources.

If no one objects to the deletion within five days by removing the "prod" notice, the article may be deleted without further discussion. If you remove the prod notice, the deletion process will stop, but if an editor is still not satisfied that the article meets Wikipedia guidelines, it may be sent to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion for consensus. [edit] Image tagging for Image:Lee.raymond.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Lee.raymond.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the source and creator of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the source and creator of the image on the image's description page, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided source information for them as well.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

[edit] Lighter than air

I ask you to have a 2nd look at your changes at lighter than air. I have commented on the article's Talk page and suggest further discussion takes place there rather than here. Paul Beardsell 23:45, 14 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Antigua - Hosting

Hello Anthony. I noticed your entry in the Antigua article. I would disagree with your comment that the internet gaming industry is in Antigua to bypass US regulations. Antigua is a nation that, like many others, licenses such companies to conduct their operations. Most of the companies in the industry openly call for US legislation, regulation and taxation and would welcome the US updating its laws. Antigua recently won a case in the WTO where the WTO ruled that the US must either close its existing online gaming operations (which do exist, mostly in the horse racing industry) or the US would have to open its books to online gaming.

The US decided to do neither and has began a process of legislation that is completely in contrast to its obligations under the WTO. Antiguas position is that the industry is legal and that no crimes are taking place. The US's position is that its a crime to wager over the internet unless you happen to be one of the US based companies that get specific exclusions from anti online gaming regulations.

The difference of opinion on this has already been ruled on by the WTO and unfortunately the US has taken a protectionist stance rather than living up to its WTO obligations.

For that reason I am going to remove that statement and leave the remainder in place. Adam777 02:28, 21 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Minor correction

I wanted to drop you a line to let you know that I had to edit your report on WP:AIV. You had put {{User talk:whateveripitwas}} which caused that ip's entire talkpage to be transcluded onto AIV. I changed it to a {{ipvandal}} template. I figure it was just a slip up (I've done it before too ;) ), but thought I'd drop you a note anyhow. Syrthiss 13:44, 14 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Your vandalism report

I removed your report of vandalism from WP:AIV. You didn't warn the user at all, the user has only ONE contribution EVER let alone more than one vandalism edit, you didn't format the report properly (forcing me to do more work to investigate it), and I am not going to block someone for six months for one edit. Please read up on the guidelines at WP:VANDAL, thanks, Metros232 13:49, 14 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] License tagging for Image:Wiki78fordf250.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Wiki78fordf250.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 09:11, 25 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Newcomball

Noticed that you created a page on Newcomball earlier, which was moved to Volleyball variations. I have put together a longer article specifically on Newcomb ball, which goes into the history of the game. I didn't know it before I started on the page, but Newcomb ball actually has an interesting history and featured in the pioneering of women's sport. Wikipeterproject 12:11, 30 January 2007 (UTC)
