Talk:Anti-nationalism
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
This should probably be merged with the main nationalism article - otherwise we'll have a million other anti-articles. -- stewacide 09:40, 3 Jan 2004 (UTC)
I think I have to agree (and I'm the one who wrote this one) --Raul654 09:43, 3 Jan 2004 (UTC)
- Actually, I'm going to be (at some point in the future) writing an article on the World Federalist Movement. Maybe it could be merged in there? Scooter 09:54, 3 Jan 2004 (UTC)

- If we've got to move it, we should try and make sure the various strains of anti-nationalism stay as their appropriate headings within the nationalism article, or wherever we decide to move it to. As you can see, I greatly expanded this article to include a lot more than anti-nationalism in the tradition of the World Federalist Movement and the humanists-- there are also a lot of communists that oppose nationalism, to various degrees, for various reasons. I personally think there's enough variation within anti-nationalism to warrant this separate article, but on the other hand I won't fiercely object if others decide to move it and/or merge it with something else appropriate. [edit] POV
"Certain strains of anarchism also claim to pursue an anti-nationalist political line similar to this third strain, evidenced in part by their self-proclaimed disgust with any cult of personality, and also by their claim to be inherently more authentically (and farther) to the left than any of the Marxist-Leninist movements could ever be. However, those same anarchist strains of antinationalism are often dogged by a history, both past and present, of relative opportunism in practice, meaning that these anarchists may oppose nationalism completely in theory, but they often acquiesce to nationalism and nationalist-tinged political struggles in contexts where doing so will help further their overall political program."
I think this entire article, in addition to being mostly consisting of conjecture rather than encyclopedic fact, is incredibly biased towards Marxism and against anarchism.Sinatra Fonzarelli
i would hardly call teh Black Panthers and Marxism-Leninism "Mainstream left". arguable, but should probably be changed. --128.205.161.150 00:30, 15 December 2006 (UTC)
[edit] pov paragraph
You cite one paragraph, yet you say the "entire article is biased towards marxism and against anarchism." What kind of a claim is that? The only part that is potentially POV against anarchism is that one paragraph at the bottom, and it can doubtless be reworded to be unbiased. But instead of conceding that, you flag the whole article. Looks like we have an anarchist on our hands. 71.125.183.192 06:20, 5 April 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Nietzsche
- The philosophy of Friedrich Nietzsche can also be seen as opposing all forms of nationalism, though he opposed virtually every other form of social movement and ideology as well.
Good work 216.114.98.48, that's some of the funniest content I've read on Wikipedia yet :-) . Reminds me of the most outstanding of Britannica's articles whose well-placed wit makes them a light and enjoyable read. The battle against boring content continues. --pmj 14:08, 4 November 2006 (UTC)
