This work is copyrighted and unlicensed. It does not fall into one of the blanket fair use categories listed at Wikipedia:Fair use#Images or Wikipedia:Fair use#Audio_clips. However, it is believed that the use of this work in the article "New anti-Semitism":

  • To illustrate the object in question
  • Where no free equivalent is available or could be created that would adequately give the same information
  • On the English-language Wikipedia ([2]), hosted on servers in the United States by the non-profit Wikimedia Foundation ([3]),

qualifies as fair use under United States copyright law. Any other uses of this image, on Wikipedia or elsewhere, may be copyright infringement. See Wikipedia:Fair use and Wikipedia:Copyrights.

To the uploader: this tag is not a sufficient claim of fair use. You must also include the source of the work, all available copyright information, and a detailed fair use rationale.

Fair use rationale:

  1. the content of the placard is only being used for informational purposes;
  2. the placard was displayed to the public as part of a protest event, and was photographed in that context;
  3. the relative size is much smaller than the original;
  4. the intent in the creation of the placard was not commercial distribution, and there is no reason to believe that future commercial exploitation might occur, or be impacted by this photograph's availability if it does;
  5. the image's inclusion in the article adds significantly to the article because, beyond providing an example of the phenomenon under discussion, the perceived ambiguity of the image's message and its authenticity as a political expression mean that it cannot be replicated, and no suitable replacement has been located. The photograph of the image has been reproduced and commented on by media sources and blogs, which adds to the unique nature of this particular image as an illustration of the phenomenon discussed by our article.
