Santiago is the son of Josè Santiago Aguilera, a man who loved horses. Josè Santiago Aguilera and his brothers owned the Hermanos Santiago horse farm. Antonio Santiago started loving horses when he was a small child, mounting on them from an early age.

In 1999, Santiago rented a building in Tarragona, where he began to train horses by himself. He stayed there until 2002, when he moved to another building, opening the "Escuela de Equitacion Antonio Santiago" ("Antonio Santiago Equestrian School"). Soon after, his father Josè and his brother Josè Manuel joined Santiago in the business venture. The Antonio Santiago Equestrian School has capability to handle 45 horses at the same time.
