Antonio Dias Cardoso

Antonio Dias Cardoso (1933- 24 June 2006) was a writer and nationalist in Angola. Cardoso was born in Luanda but eventually died of Prostate Cancer in Portugal. He was arrested in 1961 by the Portuguese Secret Police and exiled to Cape Verde. Cardoso was the president of the former Democratic Movement of Angola (MDA), in 1975, and one year later joined MPLA.

He was the editor of the "Progresso" newspaper of the "Movimento Popular de Libertação de Angola" (MPLA) after independence. He is the author of many books and poetry, including Poemas de Circunstancia (1961), Panfleto (1979), Poemas da Cadeia (1979), Economia Politica (1979).
