Antonio Candido

Antonio Candido de Mello e Souza was born in Poço de Caldas, Minas Gerais, Brazil , on July 24, 1918. He is a writer, professor, and literary critic. He was the co-winner of the Prêmio Jabuti for essays in 1965.
