Antoninho Travadinha

António Vicente Lopes, better known as Antoninho Travadinha was one of the major autodidactic musicians of Cape Verde originated from the city of Mindelo in the island of São Vicente. He performed the popular dances when he was only nine years old. and made himself famous when he became forty, he undertook a tournée in Portugal.

Other than the violin, Travadinha played wonderfully well with the viola, cavaquinho and the guitar. Travadinha interpreted the traditional music styles of São Vicente including the morna and coladera.

He died of 1987 when he reached its great popularity.
