[edit] SYN 90.7
Anthony has been involved with a number of shows on SYN 90.7. The station broadcasts in Melbourne on the 90.7 FM frequency, as well as internationally, live streaming on the Internet, at the SYN Website.
[edit] Porcelain Slap
Porcelain Slap was Anthony's first involvement at SYN. He and his co host Hugh R. Macdonald hosted the sketch comedy show late Sunday nights in the latter half of 2005. It is unknown whether anyone ever actually heard this show. It is known, however, that Anthony was an absolute gun at radio and as such was promoted to being a real person.
[edit] Bundy
Bundy was Anthony's second sojourn into the radio unknown and was once described a tour de comedy. The person describing it as such is now incarcerated for crimes against humanity.
Hugh R. Macdonald also featured as a co host on this show. It was around this time that Hugh's true talent began to emerge, dwarfing the mere human efforts that Anthony was offering to the show. A rift between the two became evident in their on air chemistry and the promising partnership came to an end. Hugh R. Macdonald has since chosen to shrink from the limelight, keeping his highly controversial and coloured private life away from the media - though still occasionally appearing as a host on late night TV game shows.
It is unclear whether a reconciliation will ever be managed.
[edit] The Wind Up
After losing a drunken bet at a pub in Melbourne, Anthony was forced to present the Friday edition of The Wind Up in 2006. The bet was that his name was not Anthony. He lost.
After co-presenting with SYN favourite Lisa "Gamma" Gammaldi for one block, Anthony moved to Tuesdays, where he co-presented with another SYN favourite, Jade. The two started the immensely successful "Jade on Neighbours" campaign. Click here to view their efforts.
He also contributed to helping the kids of the Wednesday show, gracing them with his words of wisdom and blessing them with his occasional presence.
[edit] The Naughty Rude Show
Anthony has been heard pretending to be a host on The Naughty Rude Show, an informal, interactive look at sex and relationships - alongside some of the more talented hosts SYN Radio has to offer. Sick of his constant talking, management have relegated him to mere producer in 2007. The Naughty Rude Show airs 8-10pm Sunday nights.
[edit] The Cooler
After losing an arm wrestle with The Rock, Anthony was forced into hosting the Wednesday edition of "The Cooler" (a summer version of "The Wind Up"). To his extreme relief he played second fiddle to long time colleague and associate Lisa Skye. She is the most recent in a long string of so called McCormack Ladies.
The Cooler aired over Summer 2007 12-2pm Weekdays on SYN 90.7.
[edit] Sketchy At Best
McCormack was the creator and producer of the best-of style comedy program Sketchy At Best. It was suspected to be a blatant rip off of Channel Nine's hugely successful 20 to 1 program, except without Bert Newton and the countdown. The show, presented by SYN lacky Travis Butler, aired Wednesday nights, December 27th 2006 to February 21st 2007.
[edit] Get Cereal Breakfast Show
Anthony is the Executive Producer of SYN's new Breakfast Show, Get Cereal. First airing on Monday the 26th of February, the show features the same three hosts each morning in the 6-9am timeslot, a first for SYN. The hosts are Seb Costello, Virginia Sanders and Fawn Goodall and are all experienced SYN hosts. The show is a hybrid showcasing the diversity of SYN. Anthony plays the character of Dirty McGee, the show's hopelessly unreliable and extremely shady producer.[1]
[edit] Political Career
Anthony also once ran for the seat of Bennelong in the Federal Australian election as an Independant member. The election was lost by Anthony to relative unknown at the time John Howard.
[edit] Celebrity Fan Clubs
Anthony is an active participant in several celebrity fan clubs.
- The Justine Mackenzie Fan Club, otherwise known as the "Just'in News Fan Club". Justine is one of the Friday newsreaders on SYN 90.7 (unconfirmed). She is commonly regarded as the best.
- The Alan Fletcher Fan Club. Alan Fletcher is best known as Dr Karl in television's Neighbours.
- The Mark Pillow Fan Club. Mark Pillow portrays Nuclear Man in the fourth Superman movie. Anthony describes him as "the original Matthew McConaughey".
[edit] Trivia
[edit] Controversy
Anthony McCormack has been involved in a series of Kim Beazley-esque public and on-air gaffes.
- It was on The Wind-Up that McCormack controversially called the lead singer of Little Birdy, Katy Steele, a "handsome guy" on air.
- In the same interview Anthony insisted Steele would probably look awesome in underwear, and proceeded mid-interview to answer his ringing mobile phone - which he did not initially consider to be an interview faux pas.
- Also on the Wind-Up, McCormack's lack of research became apparent when he asked Stephen K. Amos what his middle initial was.
- In the same interview he accused Amos of practising voodoo.
- At the 2006 AFI Awards in Melbourne, he asked Daniel Radcliffe, star of the Harry Potter series of films, who he was.
- MC Pressure, of Hilltop Hoods fame, developed a life-long distaste for McCormack when McCormack failed to answer a faulty studio phone at a pre-determined time.
[edit] Personal Secrets
A secret Anthony has kept hidden throughout his public life is that he was actually stimulus for the titular character in The Lord of the Rings trilogy. His secret has been hidden so long due to the discrepancy between his true appearance and the movie's portrayal of his character. A pictorial demonstration of which can be found here.
[edit] McCormack, International Man Of Mystery
Anthony is regularly compared to James Bond due to his rugged good looks and his way with the ladies. The different radio shows Anthony has hosted run parallel to the Bond movies in so far as each one features the same Anthony, but with a rotating collection of beautiful ladies. They have been dubbed the McCormack Ladies.
