Anthony Borrington

Anthony Borrington (born December 8, 1948) was an English cricketer. he was a right-handed batsman and a right-arm leg-break bowler, and occasionally a wicket-keeper. Borrington played for Derbyshire during a nine-year first-class career.

Having represented the Derbyshire Second XI since 1965, Borrington's first-class debut came in the disastrous 1971 season, which saw Derbyshire rooted to the bottom of the County Championship table. Borrington continued in the first team until 1974, but in 1975 played only one first-class game, having suffered in the middle-order. With a regular place in 1976, there was no upturn of fortunes, a trend which continued until Borrington's abrupt exit from the first team in 1980.

Borrington continued to represent the Derbyshire team in limited overs cricket well into the 1980 season. He was part of the Derbyshire team which won the NatWest Trophy in 1981. He was an opening batsman for the Derbyshire first team.

Borrington's son, Paul, signed a professional contract with Derbyshire in 2006.
