ANTIC Software

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

ANTIC Software was the name of the software company founded by Gary Yost of ANTIC, a magazine for the Atari 8-bit computers.

Gary Yost saw an opportunity when APX, Atari Program Exchange, was shut down after Tramiel took over Atari in 1983. After convincing James Capparell, ANTIC magazine's publisher, to create this company, Yost went and contacted many of the programmers from APX to publish their works with ANTIC.

Later, the Atari ST software was incorporated into a separate company known as The Catalog.

Gary Yost went on to form The Yost Group which created and licensed a number of products to Autodesk, Inc. (Autodesk Animator, Autodesk Animator Pro, Autodesk 3D Studio, and Autodesk 3DS MAX). He is currently the Executive Vice President for mental images, Inc., a 3D technology company based in Berlin that provides mental ray rendering software and develops the RealityServer framework for server-based 3D internet apps.
